The Best Family Fun at the Fringe!


If you haven't checked out Adelaide's Fringe Festival already, get in the car, buckle in the kids and make the trip now! In my honest opinion, it's the best time of year when the Fringe comes to town. Adelaide lights up (literally- the North Tce light show!), there's endless community spirit floating around and people are simply happy (probably due to the endless comedy shows you can see). The Fringe has something for everyone, and here at The Nanny Diary, we've put together some of the top things for you and your family to experience.

1. Who Cut the Cheese - World Tour of Magic

DATES: 12th, 13th and 14th of March @ 12:45 - 1:35pm

COST: $14 per ticket

VENUE: Gluttony - The Bally

SYNOPSIS: Your favourite German magician is back! After his sell out Fringe show in 2014 'Where's the Cheese?', Hanz has returned from his 2 year Wunderbar world tour of new magic discovery, searching the entire world for dangerous, nail biting, yet amusing tricks. Along Hanz's travels he has met some quirky and adventurous friends that he will bring together with fan favourites Perry the Chicken and Tommy the Toilet Paper. Hanz is super excited to deliver a magic show for kids and adult kids that is full of mind bending treats and hillariousness! Come and be entertained in a very interactive comedy magic show. You'll be disappointed if you miss out.

2. Arrrr We There Yet?

DATES: Friday 26th February - Monday 14th March @ 5pm - 5:40pm

COST: Family $75, Adults $25, Children $20, Group 6+ $20 each

VENUE: Garden of Unearthly Delights - Umbrella Revolution

SYNOPSIS: A riproaring and swashbuckling adventure in which three sailors hit the high seas in search of treasure! A scallywag pirate, a muscular sailor and a chef with a seafood allergy make for a hopeless crew, as they fight for the title of Captain aboard the ship. These acrobatic pirates turn ship-life upside down! Walking the plank becomes the high flying teeterboard, cooking for the crew involves juggling knives and steering the ship spinning upside down in the roue cyr! A fabulous forty minutes of amazing acrobatics and hilarious slapstick comedy. Awesome fun for kids and adults.Head first acrobats return to Fringe World after the success of their internationally acclaimed show Elixr.

3. Boomstar 4Kids

DATES: 28th February, 5th and 6th March @ 11am - 11:50am

COST: $17 per ticket

VENUE: Boomers on the Beach (Glenelg Town Hall)

SYNOPSIS: Boomstars 4Kids will take the little ones Moon Walking! Dancing to the Platypusmania! Moving to The Zoo Walk and up on stage telling their jokes! So get your joke ready to share and put your dancing shoes on. A fun interactive show for young families that will have the kids shaking it up, singing along and feeling Good, Great, Fantabulous! Boomstars songs have reached iTunes Children's Music Charts next to Wiggles and Disney songs and the group have been nominated for two Australian Independent Music Awards for their Video Clip 'Dancin'Don't miss "Boomstars 4Kids" this Fringe season at Boomers on the Beach, Glenelg. The Venue (behind Glenelg Town Hall - Moseley Square) overlooks the beach, so catch the tram right up to the front door. Mum and Dad can enjoy a beverage (licensed) or meal and LET'S PARTY!!

4. Defrosted

DATES: 27th, 28th February, 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 14th March @11:30am - 12:20pm & @1:30 - 2:20pm

COST: $17 or $60 per family

VENUE: Garden of Unearthly Delights - Le Cascadeur

SYNOPSIS: Love that frosty film or hate it, you will laugh your stripy socks off at lovable clowns Cat & Nicko and their puppet rock band. DEFROSTED is one big, bonkers blast of fun; a super-silly show for all the family featuring parodies of your children’s favourite film moments, lots of interaction and physical comedy. Defrosted is one big, bonkers blast of fun. Look out for Cat in new CBeebies show Spot Bots."Funny from the moment they strut onto the stage" Broadway Baby.STV's Best Children's Shows at Edinburgh Fringe 2015.

5. Dinosaur Time Machine

DATES: 26th, 27th, 28th February, 4th, 5th, 6th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th March @ 12pm -12:50pm

COST: $19 per ticket

VENUE: Gluttony - The Speakeasy

SYNOPSIS: Two time-travelling scientists find an egg. It starts to move... For what comes next, they'll need your help! Buckle up and take a trip in a giant time machine to get up close and personal with a life sized T-Rex. Learn about the ancient world of dinosaurs in the most exciting way possible. Two adventurous performers use science, circus, puppetry and imagination to give you a glimpse into history that you won't forget.

6. Atheletical Antics... Wobbles the Clown

DATES: 27th February, 13th March @11:30am - 12:20pm, 6th March @ 2:30pm - 3:20pm

COST: Adult $15, Children $15, Family $50

VENUE: West Lakes Shore School - Gymnasium

SYNOPSIS: Wobbles is back with his funniest show yet! And sport will never be the same again. His basketball blunders, football fiascoes and great golfing gaffes are guaranteed to get you giggling."
