Our Special Night for Childhood Cancer

July 10, 2018

On June 23rd 2018, The Nanny Diary once again held their annual fundraiser for the Childhood Cancer Association. Steaming on from the success of last year, we set out with some big goals for the Gala Dinner this year, including doubling our attendance and doubling the amount raised. We had 220 guests join us for the evening, and together we raised a staggering $26,849.63 for children with cancer. We were thrilled to have major sponsors this year who helped make the evening possible, including Ashby Madden Truman Accountants, SC Heinrich & Co, Artisans Technical Services and NJF Wellness.

We are so lucky to have a wonderful community of families and nannies at The Nanny Diary who helped the evening come together in so many different ways. We had families we babysit for donate, attend and even MC the event. It was very special for us to have so many wonderful people involved and a true credit to the generous community we are a part of.

Guests were touched to hear from Chris Hartley, the CCA President, who shared his family's journey from the moment his son Thomas was diagnosed with cancer.  Chris reminded everyone of why the Childhood Cancer Association is so important, and how they help real families like his through the tough battle after a diagnosis of cancer.

The silent auction ran throughout the night with an array of incredible items up for grabs. It raised almost $7000 before the main event of the night commenced! Our live auction was full of excitement as usual, thanks to the energetic and enthusiastic work of Joe Murdock, who flew in from Melbourne for the occasion. Meanwhile, the new addition of the wine box was busy being attended to as guests tried their keys in the lock to win $2500 of wine and food vouchers.

By the end of the night, the love and warmth in the room was palpable. It was overwhelming to witness and be part of the generosity of so many people who simply wanted to help. I've always believed that if you're in a position to help someone who is less fortunate, and you use your position to help those people to the best of your ability, that's the definition of success. It's not how much money you have or how many houses you own, or how many people know your name. It's making sure we simply play a part and give back to those less fortunate in some way shape or form.

The Childhood Cancer Association is a South Australian charity that relies solely on community support to provide the incredible services that it does to over 400 children and their families currently suffering from cancer. The Nanny Diary is proud to be able to help them with their amazing work and will continue to support them for as long as we can.

We appreciate everyone's support and generosity in our fundraising ventures and we can't wait to be back again in 2019.

Love The Nanny Diary xo
